I’m NOT talking about the economy, or customers in financial trouble, or slow sales, or price pressures from competition, or pressures from your boss to “sell more now.”
Mike Drapeau is famous for looking into the dusty corners of sales productivity. Sales leaders hire Mike to fix revenue shortfalls before they happen. For example, Sales VPs at HP, Phillips 66, and Dow Jones have relied on Mike’s advice to make their quotas. He wrote the book on sales benchmarking before most had heard the term.
In 2012 our consultants attended 438 live sales calls. Two weeks ago, we participated in the worst sales call of the year. The story begins with the EVP of Sales of a large technology company.
